Heart Beat is a multi platform system performance test program. It works by timing itself as it performs various pre defined programming functions, such as mathematical operations, variable passing in and out of memory and reading and writing to disc. The results give an indication of the performance of your computer system.
Results can be saved and Heart Beat can then make graphical comparisons between different result sets. Because it is multi Platform, this means that comparisons could be made, for example, the performance of a Windows PC and an Apple Macintosh or between a Mac running Mac OS X and one with OS 9 installed.
Remember that Heart Beat test results reflect how well the computer performed under the conditions of the test, they are not necessarily directly equatable with the actual specification of the computer. Also, some operating systems perform certain tasks faster than others while running on the same system, Heart Beat results may reflect this.
